Street Plowing Priorities | City of Kokomo
City Of Kokomo Street Plowing Priorities
Heavy snowfall is expected this month, so the City of Kokomo would like to remind you about our snow plowing policies.
Primary: Major roads and those that provide access to medical facilities, fire stations, police and other critical services are plowed first. Those are followed by other key transportation streets, including those that provide access to schools and businesses.
Secondary: Residential streets, neighborhoods and subdivisions.
Timing: Depending on storm severity and length, primary routes may be plowed several times before secondary routes are addressed.
Things to remember:
• When clearing snow from your driveway or sidewalks, do not move it into street. It is against city ordinance to obstruct streets and sidewalks.
• During the peak hours of snowfall, residents are encouraged to stay off the roads if possible. This will give city plow drivers the best conditions to do their jobs.
