Trojans Coast to Second Win in Arizona

Taylor (8-6, 2-3 CL) put together its most complete game of the year on Wednesday night in Arizona, defeating the Eagles of Embry-Riddle (4-7) 87-59.

A collective display on the offensive end saw eight Trojans score six or more points, with Jason Hubbard, Anton Webb, and Grant Niehaus all reaching double-digits. The 15 points recorded by Webb matched a season-best, while Niehaus notched 13 points for his sixth game in double figures this year.

Hubbard's 15 points came in a mere 15 minutes of action as a bloated lead allowed the senior to rest.

TU raced out to an early 14-7 lead after a layup by Webb and never looked back. A 10-0 run, fueled by six points from Webb, at the end of the half gave the Trojans a comfortable lead heading into the break, up 43-22.

Less than four minutes after stepping back onto the court, TU had gained its largest lead of the night at 33 following a three-pointer by Hubbard.

Taylor kept the lead above 25 the rest of the way, as the bench was cleared with over six minutes left in the game. Carson Miller made the most of the time on the court, drilling two threes for his first points of the season.

The Trojans moved the ball well throughout the game, tallying 22 assists on 38 made field goals.

TU enjoyed the Arizona sun and played some of its best ball of the year in two games the past two days. The team shot 57.1 percent combined from the field, and their average margin of victory was 20.5 points.

The defense was outstanding on the trip as well, holding the two opponents to 36.9 percent from the field.

Taylor returns to Odle Arena to wrap up non-league play on Friday, December 30, against RV Olivet Nazarene (10-4), with tip-off set for 5:00 pm.
