Hubbard Named CL Player-of-the-Week After Notching his 2,000th Point

In the Crossroads League weekly awards announced Monday afternoon, Jason Hubbard claimed his first CL Player of the Week honors this season and third of his career.

The award comes on the heels of a terrific two-day stretch from the Miamisburg, Ohio native in which he scored 51 points to surpass the 2,000-point mark in his TU career on Saturday.

The senior averaged 25.5 points, 11 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.5 steals, and 2.0 blocks per game in two victories for Taylor over Miami-Middletown and No. 2 Grace. Hubbard shot 56.7 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 82.3 percent from the charity stripe to showcase his scoring on all three levels while playing 35.5 minutes per contest.

Hubbard's 27-point performance on Saturday led the Trojans to an impressive upset of No. 2 ranked Grace. The endurance shown by playing two games in less than 24 hours was remarkable. The senior also collected the memorable 10th point in Taylor's Silent Night game on Friday for the first time in his career.

The Miamisburg, Ohio native now sits third in the CL in both points and rebounds per game, with 20.8 and 8.9 respectively. Hubbard also ranks fourth in blocks per contest with 2.2.

After Hubbard's honors, TU Athletics has claimed 31 Player-of-the-Week awards in 2022-2023, while the honor marks the first for the Taylor men's basketball program this season.

Taylor (6-5, 2-3 CL) steps on the court again on Friday, December 16th, against Northwestern Ohio (3-8) on the road, with tip-off set for 7:00 pm.
