Sommers Named CL Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
The Crossroads League announced its weekly honors on Monday, recognizing TU's Sammy Sommers as the CL Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week.
Sommers excelled in Taylor's first meet of the 2022-2023 indoor season, recording a leap of 7.42 meters in the long jump to win the event and break his own TU program record. Additionally, Sommers automatically qualified for the NAIA Indoor Track and Field National Championships with his performance.
The honor is the first for Sommers during his time with the Trojans and bumps the number of Crossroads League and MSFA Athlete-of-the-Week honors earned by Taylor student-athletes during the 2022-2023 year to 31.
Sommers and the Trojan will resume their indoor season on January 20.
