Trojans Collect Eight AVCA All-Midcentral Region Awards
The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced its 2022 crop of All-Region awards, which included eight different honors awarded to Taylor coaches or players.
Having already respectively been named the Crossroads League Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year, Erin Luthy and Gabby Reed, were also honored by the AVCA as the Midcentral Region Coach and Assistant Coach of the Year.
Meanwhile, Ryan Czerniak added three more honors to her illustrious senior season, including a Midcentral Region Player-of-the-Year award. Czerniak was also named the region's Attacker of the Year, which bolstered an All-Midcentral Region recognition.
Taylor's senior sensation from Danville, Indiana, finished the year with the nation's top hitting percentage with a mark of .385, which ranks as the third-best single-season hitting percentage in TU program history.
Fellow senior, Kacy Bragg, also left her mark in the TU record books, as she became just the fifth Trojan in program history to surpass 4,000-career assists. Throughout the 2022 campaign, Bragg totaled the nation's third-most assists with 1,482, while averaging the nation's fifth-best assists-per-set at a clip of 10.90. For these reasons and more, Bragg was named the Midcentral Region Setter of the Year alongside All-Midcentral honors.
Junior outside hitter, Anna Frey, served as a third Trojan to be named an All-Midcentral performer. Frey's most-recent honor came in the wake of a First-Team All-Crossroads League award, both of which recognize of a final-season stat sheet that read 2.82 kills per set and 2.87 digs per set.
The AVCA grants awards for 10 different regions throughout the country, with 14 student-athletes receiving All-Region recognition and eight players earning Honorable-Mention honors within each region. Each region also distributes seven additional coach or player of-the-year awards.
Five different representatives of the Taylor volleyball team combined for eight Midcentral Region awards, the most collected by any team in the region.
