Mark your calendars: The Walton presents a season full of outstanding arts performances

The 2022-23 season at the F. Ritchie Walton Performing Arts Center at Marion High School is already packed with great shows! 

CSA’S Civic Theatre presents The Sound of Music, Aug. 11-14

The Rodgers & Hammerstein classic returns to the main stage at the Walton, presented by CSA’s Civic Theatre. Show times are 7 p.m. Aug. 11-13 and 2 p.m. Aug. 14. Tickets are available now online or at the door. Prices are $18 for adults, $12 for students. Click here for more information, including a link to purchase tickets.

Orchestra Indiana presents The Planets HD, Sept. 18

Orchestra Indiana presents The Planets HD at 3 p.m. Sept. 18. This out-of-this-world performance includes Pianist Kenny Broberg, 2017 Van Cliburn Competition silver medalist, displaying the beauty of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2., followed by Gustav Holst’s The Planets, complete with NASA space footage. Prior to the performance, Maestro Matthew Kraemer will provide a pre-concert lecture, with insightful and informative introduction to the pieces on the program, starting at 2:15 p.m. Tickets are $20 and are available online now. 

MHS Bands Fall Concert, Sept. 27

MHS Drama and Music Departments present Mame, Oct. 28-29

The Marion High School Drama and Music Departments will bring this hit to the main stage at the Walton, featuring one of musical theatre's all-time greatest heroines, socialite Mame Dennis. When Mame suddenly becomes responsible for the upbringing of her nephew Patrick, the wealthy sophisticate embraces the challenge, introducing the boy to all of life's wonders. With spirit, humor, class and wit, Mame, which debuted on Broadway in 1966, continues to thrill audiences around the globe. More details will be announced closer to the event.

Indiana Bandmasters Association All-Region Honor Band, Nov. 13

The Marion High School Bands will host the Central North region for this special annual event this year, in partnership with the Indiana Bandmasters Association. The concert is set for 4 p.m. Nov. 13. More details will be announced closer to the event.

Orchestra Indiana presents A Christmas Celebration, Dec. 4

Orchestra Indiana presents A Christmas Celebration at 3 p.m. Dec. 4. Tickets are $20 and are available online now.

MHS Music Department’s Holiday Extravaganza, Dec. 8

Come out and enjoy this free annual show put on by the talented Marion High School choir and band students.

MJH Holiday Band Concert, Dec. 14

McCulloch Junior High’s talented band students present this free annual show at the Walton. More details will be announced closer to the event.

Students from Allen, Frances Slocum, Kendall, and Riverview elementaries will perform their holiday programs at the Walton this year. More details will be announced closer to the event. 

MHS Drama presents a welcome to second semester show, Jan. 14

Marion Community School of the Arts presents A Year with Frog and Toad, Feb. 3-5

Marion Community School of the Arts brings this classic of children’s literature to life on the main stage at the Walton. More details will be announced closer to the event.

Indiana Music Education Association’s Circle the State With Song, Feb. 11

The Marion Community Schools Choirs will play host to our region for this special annual event this year, in partnership with the Indiana Music Education Association. More details will be announced closer to the event.
