Sidewalks, Multiuse Path Coming to North Business District

Sidewalks, Multiuse Path Coming to North Business District

A project to make the business district north of U.S. 24 more accessible by foot, bicycle and other alternate modes of transportation is expected to begin next week.

Sidewalks and a 10-foot-wide multiuse path will be built on opposite sides of Frontage Road, portions of Jefferson Street and extending into the Walmart plaza.

E&B Paving was awarded a $1.34 million contract through a competitive bidding process to complete construction. Work is expected to begin as soon as Monday, July 18. Funding for the project comes from state and local funding through an 80/20 grant agreement between the city and the Indiana Department of Transportation.

No road closures are planned, but please use extra caution when traveling through the area.
