Street and Traffic Seasonal Employment Opportunities

Hiring

City of Kokomo recently issued the following announcement.

Street and Traffic Seasonal Employment:

Perform a wide variety of street construction, repair and maintenance tasks for the Street Department and Traffic Department; do other duties as required. Perform all work tasks 

as directed by the Street Commissioner or his/her designee. 

DUTIES: (Other duties as assigned)

Collecting and disposing of trash, debris and dead animals along the roadways;

Patching and sealing cracks and joints in roads;

Mowing grass along road shoulders and right-of-ways;

Trimming hedges and cutting and removing dead trees;

Transporting and assisting in spreading of gravel, blacktop or oil to construction sites;

Assisting in bridge, road, and shoulder repair;

Performs preventive maintenance on all equipment used on a daily basis (equipment must be cleaned, filled with gas and lubricants, tires inspected for cuts and proper air 

pressure, etc. at the end of each work day; all defects and/or machinery malfunctions noted during the shift must be reported to the mechanic or foremen, preferably both when 

possible);

Directing traffic when necessary;

Paints traffic lines and arrows;

Paints parking lines and curbs;

Makes and installs traffic signs;

Assist the paint machine operator, placing pylons and directing traffic;

Cleans and maintains both the work shop area and the various work sites;

Helps in maintaining all tools and equipment used by the Traffic Department.

Must have a valid drivers license

Must wear City furnished safety equipment, including safety shoes.

MUST ADHERE TO THE SAFETY AND TRAFFIC REGULATIONS AT ALL TIMES.
